THOUGHTS AND COMMENTS
Well that was some of the closest racing I have ever seen. There were battles that started on lap 1 and went all the way to the end, complete with insane passing and close calls. Lobby setup went great as well. Qualifying started right on time and the race started as quickly as possible soon after. However, after that first start attempt, everything went to shit.
Here’s a list of every game bug that was encountered during the race and the subsequent game of last man.
Lack of game audio on launch
Steering wheel not being recognized on launch
Steering wheel not being recognized after restart
Car getting permanently stuck in pit lane
Liveries not loading correctly
Cars disappearing after taking a pit stop
Damage setting defaulting to simulation despite lobby and personal settings both being cosmetic
Game crashes
Car falling through track
Car going through tire wall
Car getting stuck on top of tire wall

Chosen car loading in game as a completely different car

All of these were encountered any number of times in the span of about 4 hours. Some of these have been issues SINCE FORZA 4. Some I’ve never seen before. It’s almost like we got every single game bug in one night. Hell I probably forgot some. Ironically, it seems like the only bug that wasn’t encountered was a lobby implosion, which was the most common issue I have seen so far. It is doubly frustrating since every human element went near flawless this time. We started right on time but apparently the game decided we are required to go through hell anytime we try to drive the greatest sports cars ever made. It is so frustrating trying to organize all of this and have it blow up in my face no matter what I seem to do. Everything within my or anyone else’s control went extremely well this time, but nonetheless the race was hampered by things I had no control over. This is the first time I’ve ever had to red flag a race, and hopefully the last. All I can do now is hope Turn 10 has some fixes planned, or that all of these were isolated incidents. I did TORA’s Indy 500 the day after this race and had no game issues, so despite everything I believe the next round will go much better.
And now for the next round...
The 5th Annual Oppositelock 2.4 Hours Of Le Mans
It’s that time of year again. This race has been my baby since 2015. I’ve been hyping it up for months now. And for the first time, we’re doing the REAL version of Le Mans. Oh yes. No chicanes. And because that isn’t chaotic enough, we’re changing up the start procedure and doing an old-school Le Mans start (somehow). I can already confirm the date as well. THE RACE WILL BE HELD ON JUNE 17TH. I’m forgoing date voting for this round for two reasons. Firstly, this race has run the Sunday after the real 24 Hours Of Le Mans for the past 4 years, so we’re keeping with tradition. Secondly, this is actually the only day I can host the race. Time will still be up to you and will be part of this round’s sign up and voting. We’ll have the possibility of a rain or night race again too, so look for that in the voting. The voting thread for the date will be up very soon. Expect MAJOR BoP changes given the nature of the track, and the changes will be posted at the (almost) usual time of a week before the race.
Lastly, while this will be the sixth round of OEC, I want to emphasize that it is more of a standalone race than part of the series. This race carries with it its own honors and recognition. There will be a lot of people racing, I’m fully expecting two lobbies or one completely full one. If there was only one race to do, this is it. Racing once doesn’t lock you into the whole series, especially this one. The fact that this is part of OEC is irrelevant. This is the 2.4 Hours Of Le Mans. Like the real 24 Hours, this is the biggest race of the year, at least on Oppo. Championships don’t matter this month, even though this will count for them. This is one race. The race. I hope to see all of you there. Here’s hoping it’s the best race of the year. With the racing I have seen up to this point, I believe that can happen.

I missed this race only because I didn’t see the post announcing the date/time. I will be available for the 2.4 hours of LeMans. Looking forward to it!
